And we lived to tell the tale…. I wanted to do a
simple post for the menu this week that stated LEFTOVERS!!! Just
that. But Warner wouldn’t let me. It is, however, more truth than fiction.
The weekend went well and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. It was a lot of cooking, and seemingly, even more clean up. I shudder to think of the Con Ed bill for electrical use (dish washer only) this month.
It is such a
pleasure to spend time with these young people and a point of pride to be
related to them all. Unfortunately my
nephew Chris had emergency angioplasty last weekend and was grounded in Wisc.
He was missed. However, we had a happy addition
to this mob when we were joined on Friday by Warner’s youngest niece and nephew
and a friend. It truly was a case of the
more the merrier! I genuinely hope that this will all be repeated.
A couple of special moments. We had worked hard to make this feast
accessible for our Type 1 diabetic great nephew. We did Ice Creams for us, Frozen Yogurts for
him. Separate desserts. Oyster stuffing with very little bread
product. Etc. Then Friday evening after all was said and
done Daniel came to his father with his meter and said his number (whatever
that was) was too low and he needed to eat something with sugar….
Another was yesterday as their parents were packing up I was chatting with the junior members. And for fun I asked “OK, who wants to stay here?” There are six kids and six hands went up immediately…..So we must be doing something right.
