MENU FOR THE WEEK OF AUGUST 16, 2010

One thing I have finally figured out in my old age. DONOT buy hot dog or hamburger buns. (A) they are expensive and ( B ) [note: there are spaces around that B in parentheses because this idiot editor interprets it as a happy face without them] they are terrible.  I have discovered that if yougo to the bakery department you can buy a bag of freshly bag rolls of whateversize works and use these. Individually wrap and freeze the leftovers.  They tend to be less expensive and they tastea hell of a lot better!! As they say, better late than never. One of these daysI have to learn to deal with yeast and bake my own – but that’s still down theroad a bit.  I guess you could call me ayeastophobic….

Tried the Grilled Paratha Bread.  Still prefer the Poori – but this is a loteasier and faster to do – and no deep frying. And no yeast.  I will try this again.  The pans I bought worked beautifully.

This week looks to be hot and humid with a few rainy, non grill able days. The rain is a pleasure – we’ve had so little this summerand I’m tired of looking at brown. I’m also tired of having to hand water everyday – so with the rain, I get a day off.
